One of Nigeria’s popular motivational speaker, Mr. Ubong King has died of COVID-19 at 48. The news spread like wild fire early Sunday morning and has left a lot of people in sombre mood.
According to some sources, Mr. Ubong King died from complications of COVID-19 on Saturday December 26th. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Unyime-Ivy King and their four children.
Ubong King was a Business consultant, Security expert and Motivational speaker. He was the president of the Ubong King Foundation, a non-profit, non-governmental organisation targeted at training young people towards leadership.
Until his death, Ubong King was the founder of Protection Plus Security Limited and former chairman of the American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS) International Chapter 206, Lagos.
According to many people, he was a good man, kind and generous to a fault. He inspired many youths to pursue their dreams and supported them as much as he could.
When I heard the news of his death, I was shocked. I didn’t believe it. I had to send his wife who is my Facebook friend a message. I asked to call her if it was okay. I told her to tell me the news I have been reading was all a lie.
Hours later, Amb. Unyime-Ivy King made a post on Facebook confirming the death of her beloved husband Ubong King. She begged for privacy at this time so that she could mourn her husband with her children.
According to her:
“This is an open post to everyone just to respond to all who have tried to reach me that I’m unable to respond to because of the volumes of calls coming in.
I will be unavailable for a while after this post so my children and I can process in private.
All I want to say right now is that my everlasting date Ubong King has completed the short 48 years assignment that our Lord asked him to do and he’s at peace now.
This is in response to all the calls I can’t pick just now. Please bear with me. I need to keep my mind strong so love me from a distance and pray for us all.
I can’t do RIP yet – maybe later. But the family and I are stable and God is in our corner.”
My condolences to this family. I pray that God gives them the fortitude to bear this great loss. May the soul of Mr. Ubong King rest in power.
